The Number One thing to consider for your Personal Branding shoot
I’m not going to make you wait until the end of the article for what I think is the number one thing for you to consider when planning your Personal Branding shoot with your photographer - it’s the same thing you need to consider when buying property; location, location, location!
As the face of your brand, your are the main subject of the photos - your location is meant to complement you and showcase your brand.
Let’s jump into how you can choose the best location for your personal branding shoot:
RELEVANCE - What location is most relevant to your brand?
Gin Wingfields Design is a professional landscaping and garden design company in Dubai. Gin and her team pride themselves on hard work and professionalism. We needed to make sure that her branding photoshoot showcased these values. We did the shoot in one of the front gardens that her company designed and maintains, which showed off their excellent work and team.
Choose a location that shows the best of you and your brand!
FAMILIARITY - Where would your client’s be most likely to find you?
For Gin, the answer to that is in the garden! More specifically, tending to the plants with her team.
If you meet your clients in your own office space, or can more often be found visiting your different project sites, then these spots would be perfect for your branding shoot! Familiar spaces make it easier for clients to remember you and what you do.
You also want to be in a place where you feel comfortable; a familiar spot will help you keep at ease while in front of the camera.
LIGHTING - Does the location’s lighting suit your brand?
Lighting contributes to the mood of your photos, so choose a location that allows for lighting that will achieve the mood you want your photos to have.
I am, and always will be, an advocate for natural lighting! Being outdoors, or in a room with windows, allows for a more natural and authentic mood in your photos. However, if your brand requires artificial lighting, choose a location that will allow that.
For Gin, it was obvious that natural lighting was the way to go and that we needed to be outdoors for her shoot!
